How to Lay
Down the Bike
|
|
When faced with a potentially dangerous situation, it's generally best
to remain upright on your bike. Remember, tire rubber has an immense amount of traction.
However, plastic, steel, and chrome (the materials found on the side of the bike)
offer almost no traction. When you stay on your motorcycle instead of letting it
slide, you'll be better able to stop in time or swerve out of the way. The only
possible time where it might be a better idea to purposely end up on the ground
is when it's better than the alternative, like going over a guardrail down a cliff
or into the middle of a ten-car pile-up. Once you lay down a bike, you have absolutely
no control ..... More

Check Out this Side Car!
|
|
|
Here's someone who has made from a Laverda motorcycle a sidecar. Not just
any sidecar, but a supercar sidecar, including gulfwing doors. The sidecar part
looks amazing, a true work of art. It's almost like it came straight out of the
factory.work of art. It's almost like it came straight out of the factory .....

All Buffalo
Soldiers and Troopers Nation
First and foremost may you have a safe and healthy new year.
The better we take care of ourselves the happier we will be. Thanks to all of the
chapters who sent a patch, pin, object, picture, etc to be included in the Harley
Davidson Display for the museum.
I had the pleasure of delivering all of the items submitted personally to the curator
of the museum. The display of our organization will be one of the highlights of
Harley Davidson's tribute to the African Americans impact on the company and the
culture of riding. The display should be unveiled on or about the 10th of February,
I will sent out the exact date when they let me know. I know that many of your will
not have an opportunity to visit the museum but I expect that those who do will
be impressed and feel a tremendous since of pride to see that our organization was
chosen to be highlighted in a display booth out of the thousands of minority clubs
that exit. If time permits within your travels this year please make plans to visit
the Harley Davidson Museum and witness history in the making for our organization.
Thank you again!

"Iron Elite"
Harley Davidson Motorcycle
AUTHOR: Ken Thomas "Dreamaker"
Chicago Chapter
On Thursday the 9th and Friday the 10 of February 2012, Myself and club member
Maurice "Grave Hunter" Henderson were guest of the Harley Davidson Motor Co. In
Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
We were there for the launching of the "Iron Elite" special tribute to the African
American Experience in biking and its effect on the Harley Davidson Company.
Harley Davidson invited prominent African Americans in the biking community from
various parts of the country to participate in this honor, just to name a few :
" Pee Wee" in his 70's from the LA Defiant Ones, " Sugar Bear " Bike Builder for
40 plus years from LA, Billy Walker head of the National Bikers Roundup, " Guns"
representing the "Savage Skulls" out of New York, and " The Dream Maker" representing
the National Association of Buffalo Soldiers/Troopers MC. Also in attendance were
many African American Journalist from various parts of the country.
The CEO, COO, and other high officials from the company were in attendance along
with Bill Davidson, great grandson of one of the founding Davidson's and head of
the HD Museum.
A couple of months ago I asked all chapters to submit an item for the display at
the museum and many of you submitted a pin, patch, flag, or something to indicate
your particular chapter of this organization.
If you have an opportunity to visit the museum during the month, I think that you
will be proud to see how our organization is displayed prominently in the center
of the three display cabinets when you walk up to the second floor of the museum.
All in attendance witnessed the launch of two new bikes from Harley later that Thursday
night. On Friday we were taken on what is known as the "Steel Toe tour" of the Harley
Davidson Power Train Plant located in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin.
What a memorable experience and great time had by all. For all members who are able
to get to the HD museum, the history, bikes and experience is will worth it. To
be invited by the Harley Davidson Motor Company is credit to each and every member
who wears and believes in these colors we wear and believe me we were noticed by
all.
Thank You Harley Davidson and Buffalo Soldiers and Troopers M.C
Much Love

CHRISTMAS FOR
THE HOMELESS: An Overview (1993-Present)
AUTHOR: Uknown
Maryland Mother Chapter
This outreach project started humbly in 1993, when Mrs. Ethel Johnson
(former leader of the Tuesday Night Bible Class) took notice of the homeless men
gathered at the 4th street mission of the Seventh Day Adventist Church (around the
corner from Mt. Sinai). Unlike many who would avoid them while on their way to Sunday
services (at Mt.Sinai), Mrs. Johnson would, in passing, greet the 30 to 40 men as
they waited in line for breakfast. According to Mrs. Johnson, “As I passed by each
Sunday morning I noticed that in December and January many of the men had only sweaters
to wear. They had no socks, hats, or gloves. I wanted to help”. She went to her
church and her bible class started donating items; in the years that followed, her
church started donating money to buy socks and other toiletry items.
Today, the current coordinator, Donna Clark reports that “This has been
a tremendously successful venture that both the church and participants have looked
forward to. It has put feet to our faith”. Lastly, Mt. Sinai does this to “put our
faith in action and to help those less fortunate, according to Matthew 25:35-36,
40”.
The Maryland Mother Chapter has been assisting since 2000
The Buffalo Soldiers’ mission is to be of service in the communities
in which we live. In addition to this annual event at the 4th street mission of
the Seventh Day Adventist Church, the Maryland Mother chapter helps prepare and
serve breakfast to the homeless on the fourth Sunday of the month
